Which Insulation Board Is Best for My Electrical Underfloor Heating System?

At The Underfloor Megastore, we make sure to cover all your underfloor heating installation needs. We firmly believe that for optimal performance and efficiency, every electric underfloor heating installation should be paired with a suitable insulation board.

We often receive inquiries about which board to choose, so we've simplified the explanation below:


ProWarm™ ProFoam and Megawarm® 6mm EPS Insulation Boards are specifically engineered to offer economical insulation for our underwood heating and carpet heating mat systems. These boards provide a cost-effective solution without compromising performance, making them ideal for underwood heating systems. Sold in 10m2 packs, these 6mm thick boards are a practical choice. Please note that ProFoam and EPS boards are not suitable for our under tile heating systems.

 

ProWarm™ and Megawarm® XPS insulation boards are designed to provide cost-effective insulation for our underfloor heating mat systems on concrete or screeded floors. These boards offer a budget-friendly solution without sacrificing performance. Suitable for both underwood and under tile mat systems, XPS boards ensure efficient heat distribution and energy savings. They are available in 6mm and 10mm thicknesses to accommodate various insulation needs.

 

ProWarm™ XP-PRO Insulation Boards are specially crafted to offer excellent insulation and support for our electric underfloor heating systems on concrete or screeded floors only. Compatible with both underwood heating systems and under tile systems, these boards come in thicknesses of 6mm, 10mm, 20mm, 30mm, and 50mm, catering to diverse requirements.

 

ProWarm™ and Megawarm® Tile Backer Insulation Boards provide the ultimate solution for superior waterproofing, ideal for use in bathrooms and kitchens. These high-quality extruded polystyrene panels, reinforced with fiberglass mesh on both sides, are designed to complement our under tile heating cables and mats (not suitable for underwood systems). Available in thicknesses of 6mm, 10mm, 12.5mm, 20mm, 30mm, and 50mm, they can be used on both timber and concrete subfloors.
